How Love Nurtured on Beer Led To The Bottom of The English Channel

I came across  a very strange and tragic story this morning that we can all relate to.
Sadly the mistake this young man made cost him his life.
I can't count how many times Jesus spared me from my many bad decisions which could have gotten me killed.

This story reminded me about the need for us to build our lives on a solid foundation that will withstand whatever storms, whatever trials and tribulations come our way.
It's the only enduring foundation in this very cold, unloving, strange and evil world as we look around and see every once seemingly solid hope beginning to crumble before our eyes.

23-year-old Sgt Paul Meyer was experiencing turmoil in his life and chose drinking to drown the pain and to deal with it.
Many of us have been there, but that way never works it only makes everything worse.

This way of dealing with his troubles led to a very bad decision and a tragic ending a of a very short life.
Many today are escaping hurt, pain and troubles with drugs which also leads to the big DEAD END.

There is a better way, a solid foundation that will get you through every storm that comes your way.

Was the newlywed mechanic who stole a USAF C-130 shot down?

In 1969, at the height of the Cold War, a homesick, hungover mechanic in the US Air Force stole a plane from his base in East Anglia and set off for Virginia.
Nearly two hours later, he disappeared suddenly over the English Channel.

Did he simply crash or was he shot down?

Sgt Mac spent two long evenings in the pub with Meyer and distinctly recalls Meyer ranting against the USAF, which he said was forcing him to work long hours away from his beloved family.

So Paul, under the influence of toxic, killer booze, made a terminal decision to be away from his family forever instead of temporarily.

Jesus our wonderful Savior rescues us from our sins that will destroy us, our limitations, weakness,   frail humanity, stupidity, our lack common sense, and the failure to think things through.

The Two Foundations

Messiah Jesus speaking to everyone on earth;

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.
And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.

Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.
The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.”

Matthew 7:24-27
