I think this upcoming eclipse is the first to travel coast to coast in the US since 1918. We in the NW had a total eclipse on Feb. 26, 1979. I was living in Missoula, MT at the time, and we were in the path of totality, which trended NE across Canada and Greenland. Unfortunately, the day was rather overcast, so it just got dark. We didn't see the spectacular covering of the sun by the moon. Probably a good thing anyway since it kept a lot of people from getting damage to their eyes by staring at the sun! It was very eerie, btw. People, especially scientists, flocked to the Goldendale Observatory in WA from all over the world, but it was overcast there as well. This one is coming at a much clearer time of year. BTW, there will be another one soon after the first which will make an X close to the midpoint of the USA. Very ominous. Like God is drawing a bullseye on the nation.
