A second major explosion rocked the area about 12 hours after the initial explosion. 

As the cleanup got underway, residents were rocked by more booms coming from the plant as firefighters attempted to control the blaze.

12 News crews roughly a mile from the plant could feel the explosion.

An explosion and fires at 2 U.S. chemical plants prompt emergency orders

The blast in Texas wasn't the only chemical plant incident on Wednesday evening. Authorities in Charleston, South Carolina were working to contain a leak at the LANXESS chemical plant after a fire broke out there, forcing a brief shelter-in-place order for some residents.
